The strangest thing happened last night after we got home from the Boombox Parade and Holiday Festival.
We were putting the kids to bed a little after 9 o’clock when the house started shaking. When I lived in SoCal we used to call these things earthquakes, but this is Bullhead City, Arizona. The last (and only) time I felt an earthquake here was a monster quake centered in Ludlow, CA. I think that was about ten years ago. My wife says she’s felt others here and there, but I remember precisely two, including the one last night.
Well Ludlow was at it again last night a little after 8:15 pm (PST):
The Southern California Earthquake Data Center labeled it as a “moderate earthquake” with a magnitude of 5.1.
I also came across this report from the United States Geographical Survey, but it’s titled “report cancellation.”
I’ve been through at least a hundred earthquakes, maybe more, but you never really get used to them. Especially in Arizona.
