Open Letter to the Year 2008

Dear 2008,

Being a “glass is half full” kinda guy, I try to find the lesson in all things. And you, 2008, were full of lessons. Thanks for the opportunity. I’m glad I was around to know you, but I am sure looking forward to 2009!

In real estate, the year tends to sort of fizzle out. People slow down around Thanksgiving and never seem to recover. You can all but write it off by December 23rd. So Imagine my surprise when I was negotiating not one, but two offers on that very day. One is now in escrow and scheduled to close in a couple of weeks. We’re still working on the other. Lucky me for showing up, but luckier for my clients for getting a killer deal on a beautiful house in Fort Mohave.

The number of homes on the market has been dropping the last few weeks, and the pace of sales has been surprisingly steady for this time of year. Interest rates are unimaginably low. The perfect storm just may be brewing…

So goodbye 2008, thanks for the memories. And hello 2009.

And to those of you who stop by on occasion to stay connected to Bullhead City, thank you for being a reader of this blog. I hope you’re all having a good holiday season, and I wish you all a very happy, healthy, and prosperous 2009.
