Look what the wind blew in

Not much rain, but a whole lot of hot air.

Summer evening in Bullhead City, why not jump in the car with the kids and head over to grandma and grandpa’s house? I knew our timing was bad last night when we turned on the radio just in time to hear “The storm is expected to reach Bullhead City at 6:30 and Needles at 6:45.” It was 6:34.

I had to stop a couple times to let the sand clear when visibility hit zero, but other than that and one renegade oil pan tumbling down the road, no problem.

Philip Stark, who does an awesome job of chronicling our local weather on Weatherbug, had this to say:

Well, we had a dandy of a thunderstorm come through Bullhead City. The peak wind gust was recorded at 58mph with lots of thunder and lightning. We did not get much rain, as usual, only .12”. But we sure got the wind, thunder, and lightning. We are currently under 3 warnings. A Flash Flood Warning until 8:30pm mst, a Flood Advisory until 9pm mst, and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 10pm mst. Many areas nearby just got dumped on with over an inch of rain.

He also captured some nice shots of lighting, which he has posted on his blog.
