The Laughlin-Bullhead City bridge will be short a lane for a while as the Nevada Department of Transportation does some repair work. The NDOT website says the project will begin tomorrow, but I understand it’s been delayed until Sunday. The rest of this info from their website should be accurate:

The Laughlin-Bullhead City Bridge repairs will begin Thursday, June 12. During the 15 day repair project the east-bound lane closest to the pedestrian access will be closed. Work will be conducted Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 6:oo a.m. each evening. All lanes will be fully open Friday mornings at 6:00 a.m. through Sunday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Motorists are advised to use traffic controls as directed.

The Laughlin-Bullhead City bridge was closed twice in one week last month due to two separate big rig accidents. The repair project will include fixing damages resulting from that rough week.

Aside from the obvious danger of runaway tractor-trailers plummeting down a highway that ends at a bridge usually full of cars traveling between Bullhead City and Laughlin, closure of the Laughlin-Bullhead City bridge creates havoc for commuters. The nearest alternate route to cross the Colorado River, which flows between Arizona and Nevada, is the Veterans Memorial Bridge several miles down river near the Avi Resort and Casino.
