The Bullhead City government will soon be getting a new look. Eleven candidates are running for four Bullhead City Council seats in the Primary Election on March 10th, which means more than half of the Council is turning over.
That’s a lot of new faces in a time that calls for unity. I hope the new group, under Mayor Hakim’s leadership, will continue to work in the direction they’ve been going in recent years.
I’m not saying we need consensus, but we do need leaders who can work together, have healthy debates, make tough decisions, then come together in the end as one body on behalf of our residents. Easier said than done, but that’s the job 11 people are applying for next month.
To find out what these candidates are all about, the Bullhead City Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Candidate Forum tonight at 6 pm. I think the format they’re using will be a good way to give each of the candidates a chance to speak and still get us all home before sunrise. They each get a two-minute opening statement, then one minute each to respond to three questions, followed by a two-minute closing statement. They each answer the same three questions. The whole affair is supposed to take 90 minutes.
Hope to see you there!
